WIP: A new take on our main character - Rizzo


Sneak peak at Rizzo's new look (work In progress)!

It's been on the to-do list for a while, but I've decided to get started on redesigning our main character, Rizzo!

New Rizzo: 

The game was originally built with more of a voxel graphics look and feel, but the way the game engine developed, it was possible to create shapes with a little bit more of an organic nature to them.

Old Rizzo:


As the graphics evolved, the Rizzo character got left behind somewhat in voxel land, so needed a bit of a make over.  Hence the time finally coming  for a refresh!

The new design up top is a work in progress. I want to keep him looking a bit boxy and geometric to stay true to the voxel roots,  but definitely giving him more of an organic art styling.

I've been using Procreate to do the sketches and will work on some more detailed rendering, but I'm also toying with then modelling the character in 3D so that I can pose and animate it in different ways.

What do you guys think?
